VEG NAM e MONDI PARALLELI

Ho sempre costruito dei mondi paralleli per evadere da situazioni dove non avrei voluto stare ma, per varie ragioni o motivi, ho sempre dovuto esserci: una cena, una riunione, una cerimonia.
Immagino che le cose che mi circondano siano popolate da esseri minuscoli che vivono scene più o meno del mio quotidiano o che ho visto in un film o vivano in una dimensione totalmente "non sense".
Più per piacere personale che altro, anni fa ho sentito l’esigenza di fissarle in fotografie, per cui ho iniziato a ricreare in studio queste scene, concentrandomi però, solo su una piccola parte della situazione, solo su un oggetto, un dettaglio, un concetto, in quanto trovo, nell'estraniazione da qualsiasi contesto, che rappresentino al meglio quella sorta di pensiero/visione avuta.
A periodi più o meno lontani fra loro, dopo lunghe ricerche dei materiali, mi “rinchiudo” con tutto il necessario e inizio a ricreare il mio mondo.
A volte si tratta solo di immagini singole, legate ad un pensiero unico, a volte invece sono una serie sullo stesso tema.
Questa, nello specifico, intitolata VegNam (adoro anche i giochi di parole), che unisce Vietnam e vegetale/vegano, è stata una delle prime realizzate, ancora nel 2008, ma che ultimamente, nel 2019, ho ripreso e rifotografato, perché non aveva l’estetica giusta che mi convinceva.
A livello tecnico le foto sono state fatte con un banco ottico Linhof 679 ed un dorso digitale Leaf Credo 80, tutte con la stessa ottica, un 150 mm: non mi piace molto cambiare ottica da una foto all'altra usare sempre la stessa trovo che dia più un senso di ordine e continuità alla serie, oltre che di tranquillità interiore oper me (credo sia più una fissazione, ma va bene così).

Since I was young when I was sitting at the table , during situations in which I shouldn't have been there but, for many reasons, I had to be there , I always pictured some microcosmos to flee in.
I immagine that the objects around me get alive by memories I lived or I've seen somewhere, or they lives in a completely "nonsense" world.
A few years ago, for personal pleasure, I started to recreate in my studio thoose "scenes" focusing only on a single object, because better rappresent the sense of that kind of "daydream".
Sometimes is just a single picture, other times are a series of photoes on the same theme (for example vegetables, bread, candyes, etc etc).
This serie, called Vegnam (I also love the puns) it's my first ever, made in 2008 but shooted again in 2019, becasue the old appearence didn't convince me.
At the techical level theese pictures are made with a Linhof 679 camera, a Leaf Credo80 digital back, and all taked with the same Schneider 150 mm lens: I prefer using only one lens when I shoot a serieslike this, becasue it give me e bigger sense of balance.

PRAISE OF UNNECESSARY

"Nothing is more necessary than unnecessary", this series is my homage to the beauty of kitsch. I bought all the objects I used, at the retails chains or at the flea markets, looking for the most unconventional and "unnecessary" one but extremely fascinated by them. The food in each picture is something i put to give a sense of life in to still life, because i don't like the absolutes. I started shooting in 2020 and those series is a part of an ongoing work. I used a Linhof 679 camera with a Leaf Credo 80 digital back and flash lights; each image is more then 10000x7000 pixels.

I don’t shoot pictures in 2:3 format (vertical). I shoot pictures in SQUARE, 4:3, 3:4, 6:7 and 7:6 format.
I’m radical chic.
I shoot with medium and large format camera.
I’m tolerant vegetarian.
I’m a strong supporter of the "theory of Natural Selection": if you are stupid you can die”.

I was born in 1973 in Trento, a small city at the Northern edges of Italy. Growing up among the Dolomites and so close to the Austrian border, has brought me to develop a deep sense of respect for Mother Nature, and a pretty defined personal identity quite early on in my life. That’s probably why I love photography so much - it allows me to capture reality as it is, without distortions, and at the same time to express my personal point of view on it, or through it...
I started using photography professionally back in 2001, and to work in advertising in 2004 as assistant in Verona. A few years later I opened my own studio back in Trento, and kept working in creative advertising for both the private and public sectors.

BIO NON SO COME HO FATTO A SCRIVERLA

Sono nato nel 1973 a Trento, una città del nord Italia, dove dopo un percorso formativo e lavorativo in ambiti diversi ma attinenti al mio mondo attuale, mi sono avvicinato alla fotografia come professione circa 15 anni fa, facendo da assistente presso uno studio di Verona specializzato in fotografia di moda.
Dopo anni di lavoro nel mondo commerciale e pubblicitario, che ancora saltuariamente svolgo, mi sono spostato verso un ambito di ricerca personale ed artistico, attraverso progetti di matrice non solo sociale, che mi hanno portato sia riconoscimenti internazionali, come ad esempio il concorso Sony Award per il lavoro HENKŌ nella categoria ritratto o il LIFEFRAMER nella categoria Still-Life Color, sia a mostre ed esibizioni presso musei e gallerie: per citarne una al MACRO Asilo di Roma la performance artivistica "in the blink of an eye" (tutte visionabili sul mio sito).
Sul piano tecnico utilizzo prevalentemente sistemi a medio o grande formato sia in analogico che digitale.
Attualmente sto lavorando su alcuni nuovi progetti personali sia da solo che, come preferisco, assieme ad altre persone: con un mio collega Russo del National Geography, stiamo portando avanti 2 progetti paralleli uno a livello locale ed uno Italiano, che vogliono raccontare uno spaccato del nostro tempo con la nostra narrazione fotografica; siamo ripartiti con "in the link of an eye" sia in Italia che in Europa assieme all'artivista e performer Alfredo Meschi alla volta delle 4000 persone ed in ultimo stiamo ultimando un lavoro di oltre 2 anni su una tematica contemporanea, attraverso i linguaggio del ritratto fotografico.
